FIRST
TIMERS (aka newbies)
You do not need to
become a member of the US Marshalls to work. Come out to
the track and tell the nice person that you meet at the
gate you want to corner work! (Go to the worker/crew
sign-up line - don't stand in the long lines for racer
sign-up). You will be asked, like any other entrant to
the track, to sign in and pay a fee. The fee will be
returned to you if you work the whole day. Part-time
help is welcome, any time you can spend helping out is
appreciated. You will be going to the Paddock area
(infield area) of the racetrack. Ask for a vehicle pass
so you may bring your vehicle into the infield (NHIS-Loudon
only).
We head out to prepare the track for racing at 7:45 am
Saturday and Sunday with activities ending between 5 -
6pm or occasionally earlier. If you arrive before 7:45
am go to the scales garage in the paddock area (just
ask, most anyone will know where it is) and see Sandy
for an assignment. If you get there later, ask at the
gate for Sandy to be contacted and she will assign you.
We'll teach you all you need to know. Come prepared for
the elements, bring whatever you think you'll need out
on the track with you:
-
Sunscreen
-
Rain Coat
-
Drink (water is
best)
-
Snacks
-
Extra Clothing
-
Sunglasses
Do not wear red or
yellow outer clothing as a rider might mistake you for a
caution flag. White clothing is preferred. Please
consult the Corner workers Guide for more info.
Free sandwich lunch is provided. There is also a
restaurant in the paddock area at the track. There are
excellent shower and bathroom facilities and you may
camp pretty much anywhere on the grounds. If you are not
a camper there are many reasonable accommodations in the
area.
